Description

This Healthy Strawberry Chia Seed Jam, packed with nutritious ingredients, comes together in 20 minutes, making it the perfect store-bought alternative to try on toast or top your porridge.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 cups strawberries (frozen or fresh)
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup (or sugar)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds

Instructions

  1. Add the strawberries, chia seeds, maple syrup, and lemon juice to a pot.
Cook them down for about 13-15 minutes and bring to a boil.
  2. Blend the strawberries while cooking them using an emulsion or a regular blender until smooth. Cook down for another 5-6 minutes.

  3. Let the jam cool down, and then transfer to a mason jar.
    Store in the fridge.

Notes

Make sure to stir the mixture often as you cook to prevent the bottom from sticking and burning.

Make this strawberry jam with maple syrup, white granulated sugar, cane sugar, or caster sugar. I highly recommend not using brown sugar to make this recipe, as it may alter its taste.

This recipe does not contain pectin. However, you can use jam sugar instead, which contains pectin as a gelling agent.

The mixture will be quite runny when hot. It will thicken and set as it cools.

Let the jam cool down completely before storing it in a mason jar and placing it in the fridge.
