Description
Ingredients
- 1 pint strawberries (fresh or frozen)
- 70 g dark chocolate
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
- nuts or white chocolate (optional)
Instructions
- Wash the strawberries and dry them thoroughly with paper towels.
-
Start melting your chocolate and coconut oil in a heatproof bowl over a pot of simmering water. Stir occasionally until the chocolate is melted and smooth.
You can also microwave the dark chocolate and coconut oil. Place them in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave for about 1 minute, stirring in between, until the chocolate is melted and smooth. - Once the dark chocolate is totally melted, dip the strawberries into the melted chocolate or swirl them to get an even coating.
The strawberries should be coated generously but not too thickly. - Before the chocolate sets, sprinkle or roll the strawberries in your chosen toppings or drizzle them with white chocolate.
-
Place the dipped strawberries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. You can also use a silicone mat.
Let them set at room temperature or place them in the refrigerator for about 10-20 minutes. -
Once the chocolate is fully set, serve them and enjoy!
Notes
Use fresh, dry strawberries. Make sure your strawberries are fully ripe and dry before dipping them. Excess moisture can cause the chocolate to seize and not adhere properly.
Dry the strawberries well before dipping them into the melted chocolate. Moisture on the strawberries can cause the chocolate to seize.
Chill the strawberries for perfect coating. For an extra smooth coating, chill the strawberries in the fridge for 10 minutes before dipping them into the chocolate. This helps the chocolate adhere better.
Melt the chocolate properly. When melting chocolate, use a double boiler or microwave every 20 to 30 seconds. Stir after each interval to prevent the chocolate from burning.
Serve fresh. These chocolate-covered strawberries are best enjoyed fresh, so try to serve them within 24 hours. The longer they sit, the more likely the chocolate will soften, or the strawberries may lose their freshness.
